Nutrition Health Specialists - Indianapolis, IN
Nutrition is an integral part of the wound healing process. When the body has an injury, nutritional requirements will change. Specifically, there will be an increase need for a protein called albumin. Albumin is integral to the healing process, as it is needed for complete wound healing to occur. Quite often conditions such as malabsorption and malnutrition, in combination with a severe wound, lead to hypoalbuminemia. This is a condition where there is a deficit of albumin protein.
As part of the world-class care at The Miller Care Group, we ensure that this component of healing does not go undetected. We provide nutritional assessments and monitoring, which help us ensure that our patients have the dietary components needed for the wound healing process.
The Indy Wound Nutrition program has a designated team in office, and collaborates with expert Registered Nurses, Registered Dieticians, Pharmacists, and Physicians who specialize in providing a full scope of care to address our patient's nutritional deficits. We than collaborate with you, and any other health professionals you may have, to tailor an interventional program specific to your unique needs. These interventions are continuously monitored, and evaluated to ensure their effectiveness. As you progress through the dynamic wound-healing journey, treatment approaches may change to accommodate your needs.
Indy Wound also works to provide these services to non-wound patients as well. We accept referrals from all healthcare professionals and agencies, which have patients suffering from malabsorption, malnutrition and hypoalbuminemia. We work diligently with these professionals, and agencies to provide care needed and improve patient outcomes.
